The Garden is marked vegan on our board: vegan cheese, mushrooms, red onion, olives, capsicum, fresh basil and olive oil on a red base. The Vegetarian and the Shroom are meat free. Vegan cheese is on the additions list for any pizza.

A gluten free base is on the additions list at both Hobart shops. As our board says, although all due care is taken, we cannot 100% guarantee our pizzas are gluten free.

The pizzas on the board are priced as a large, and there is no medium. Family size is bigger again and is available at Derwent Park only. The house selections have their own large and family prices. If you are unsure which to get for the number of people you are feeding, ask when you order and the shop will tell you.

Order across the board rather than several of the same pizza. A spread that covers most people is the Pepperoni and the New York, New York for the meat eaters, the Capricciosa for something with more going on, the BBQ Chicken or the Satay Chicken for anyone who does not want a tomato base, the Vegetarian, and The Garden, which is our vegan pizza. If a group is split on a topping, half and half is on the additions list so one pizza can run two toppings. Garlic bread and crust dippers are the usual things to share, and the Nutella pizza or a 500ml pint of Tasmanian ice cream finishes it. Family size is available at Derwent Park, and every other Medici pizza comes as a large.

The Garlic Pizza is the usual choice for younger kids: a white base with cheese and oregano, nothing on it to pick off and no sauce to argue about. After that the Margherita 1397, which is our sugo, mozzarella, fresh basil and parmesan, or the Tropical if they like ham and pineapple. For a party, garlic bread and loaded garlic bread work as something to share while the pizzas come out, half and half lets one pizza cover two fussy eaters, and the Nutella pizza with strawberries or a pint of Tasmanian vanilla bean or salted caramel ice cream is the usual finish. Family size is available at Derwent Park if you are feeding a group of them.

The Garden is our vegan pizza, made with vegan cheese. Vegan cheese and a gluten free base are both on the additions list, so they can be added to a pizza, though adding vegan cheese to a pizza that has meat on it does not make it vegan. Half and half is also an addition, which lets you split one pizza across two toppings. On gluten free our menu says it plainly: although all due care is taken we cannot 100% guarantee our pizzas are gluten free, so tell us when you order if you are coeliac.

The best method is a dry pan on the stove. Put the slice in a cold non-stick pan, bring it up to a medium heat and give it two to three minutes until the base is crisp again. Then add two or three drops of water to the pan away from the pizza, put a lid on and drop the heat for another minute. The steam melts the cheese through without touching the base, so the bottom stays crisp and the top gets properly hot. If you only have a microwave, put a half cup of water in alongside the slice and heat it in short bursts, which is what Domino's themselves recommend and it comes out far less rubbery than microwaving the slice on its own. An air fryer at about 180C for three minutes also works. An oven at 200C on a preheated tray takes longest but does several slices at once.

Yes, pizza freezes well. Let the slices cool first, then wrap each one separately in cling film or foil so they do not freeze into a block, and put them in a sealed bag or container. Reheat straight from frozen in a pan or an air fryer rather than defrosting first, because defrosting releases water into the base and turns it soggy. Give it a little longer than you would a slice from the fridge. If you are keeping it in the fridge instead, a sealed container beats leaving it in the box, which dries the base out.

Three pizzas carry a vegetarian or vegan mark on our board. The Vegetarian is marked V: red base, cheese, red onion, olives, mushrooms, red and green capsicum and pineapple. The Shroom, from the house selections, is also marked V: a white base with mushrooms, red onion, brie, cheese, parmesan and garlic. The Garden is marked VG for vegan: vegan cheese, mushrooms, red onion, olives, capsicum, fresh basil and olive oil. The Margherita 1397 is meatless too though it carries no mark, being our vintage sugo, mozzarella, fresh basil and parmesan. We do not publish kilojoule figures, so if you are counting precisely, every pizza's full ingredient list is on the menu and the shop will tell you exactly what goes on one.

We use halal meat. If you are avoiding pork, eight pizzas on our board list no pork ingredients: the Satay Chicken and the Sweet Chilli Chicken, both made with roast chicken breast, the Garlic Prawn with king prawns, brie and cracked pepper, and the meatless ones, being the Garlic Pizza, the Margherita 1397, the Vegetarian, The Garden, which is vegan, and the Shroom from our house selections. Every other pizza on the board lists ham, bacon, pepperoni or Italian sausage. We do not claim halal certification and everything is prepared in one kitchen, so if you need to know exactly how a particular pizza is made, ring the shop before you order and we will talk you through it.
